The Great Falls Symphony is proud to present two members of the Cascade String Quartet as soloists performing Mozart’s virtuosic Sinfonia Concertante. One writer gushed, “This concertante is a proud, deeply expressive masterpiece, in which the somber glow of passion so broods over the waters of Mozart’s creative imagination that gleams of exultation flicker in alternation with the shadows of despair.”
Megan Karls loves the piece for its memorable, “singable” melodies and looks forward to the spirited “conversation” between her violin and Maria Ritzenthaler’s viola. Mozart didn’t write any concertos for solo viola, making it a favorite for Maria. “It’s lyrical and poignant, but has a spirit of fun,” she says.
The Symphonic Choir joins the orchestra for Mozart’s celebratory Mass in C Major, popularly referred to as the Coronation Mass. Mozart was known for his operas, and the arias of the piece have an elegant and distinctly Mozartian flavor.
Our own gifted artists are showcased in this all-Mozart concert with Orchestra and Symphonic Choir.
